GENERAL UPDATE: General trout season is closed, but many waters in Inyo and Mono counties remain open year-around. Anglers should check the regulations on open waters and special restrictions. Top Eastern Sierra fishing report web sites are: KensSport.com (Bridgeport region), TheTroutFly.com, and SierraDrifters.com.
TOP NEWS: While most waters are closed, anglers focusing on the lower Owens River from Bishop to Lone Pine and Pleasant Valley Reservoir are seeing fair to good action, and both are getting plants (check the plants list in this report or on-line). The year-around catch-and-release waters — the East and West Walker Rivers, the upper Owens River (above Crowley), and Hot Creek all continue to have slow to fair action for fly anglers. The upper Owens River is the best bet with some of the bigger rainbows from Crowley already starting to stack up in the pools and tailouts in the Hot Fingers stretch of the river. The East Walker is slow except in the Rosachi Ranch stretch on the Nevada side, which has been pretty fair for 10- to 15-inch fish.
