San Clemente Island is still having an excellent rockfish bite, but the surface bite has been very spotty, despite the improving conditions. Catalina Island has been another story: Private boats were seeing a very good bite on white seabass this past weekend, with fish to 38 pounds reported. Some squid moved back into Catalina, and the candy bait helped this bite. There are also more yellowtail showing at Catalina, and barracuda schools are starting to move in around the island.
