Just when you think the giant yellowfin tuna season is winding down for the long-range fleet out of San Diego, fishing off the tip of Baja California, the bite surges back on. Royal Polaris reported in April 14 after an amazing night and early morning bite on the big fish. From midnight to daybreak, the anglers on board landed 47 tuna, with 16 over the 190-pound mark — and the biggest taped at 318 pounds. The bite continued into the morning, and three more 200-plus-pound fish were added during daylight hours. The wahoo fishing also remains excellent on these trips. The anglers on Royal Polaris also got 28 wahoo during the April 14 morning bite.
