SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The catfish action has been good to excellent. Frank Mancra, Los Angeles, caught and released a 22-8 catfish on mackerel from a float tube in the big lake. Santiago Palacios, West Covina, landed 21 fish over the weekend, a mix of tilapia to three pounds and two-pound catfish, all on nightcrawlers at the Bubble Hole. Rick Kizzee, Los Angeles, had three catfish to eight pounds and the total weight was 22 pounds. He was fishing mackerel from a float tube. There are catfish and tilapia plants each week. IRVINE LAKE: The lake is now closed and will be for at least the immediate future.
