SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: Trout season has kicked off here after the first plant of the season last Thursday and another plant is slated for this week. The bite has been fair on one to two-pound fish. There will be bonus plants and trophy fish stocked just before the big Nov. 25-27 season “opener.” Information: 714-632-7851 or log on at www.fishinglakes.com.

IRVINE LAKE: The lake is now closed and will be for at least the immediate future.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: First trout stocking of the season was a 2,000-pound plant last week. There will be 1,000-pound plants Nov. 21, Nov. 28, Dec. 5, and Dec. 26.
