Rockfish Even Off 3/30/2012

While the water temperatures haven’t affected the rockfish action, the post-new moon tidal conditions slowed the bite this past week for all the landings along the coast. The half-day rockfish boats are still getting four to five fish per rod, and the three-quarter-day fleet is seeing catches of seven to eight fish per rod. As we move into the full moon next Friday, all those numbers should jump back up into the limit-range. The northern landings in the Ventura and Santa Barbara regions are still seeing limit-style rockfish action. Skippers all along the coast are noting the sheer volume of bocaccio and red snapper.
