The cool water along the coast continues to linger well into April, and the surface bites for both nearshore and island anglers are still pretty dismal. Both Catalina and San Clemente islands are holding a good number of yellowtail and white seabass, but the bite is nonexistent right now. Both spots also have a good volume of squid, so when the temps perk up just a little, this action should break wide-open. Boats hitting the islands are seeing exceptional rockfish action. An Easter trip for Freedom to San Nicolas Island produced limits of rockfish for everyone on board.
