This is shaping up as the best white seabass season in modern history. The bite has been good to excellent this week — all the way from San Diego up into the Channel Islands. The Channel Islands region bite has been simply wide-open for sportboats, private yachts and even kayak anglers. The fish are in the kelp from Point Hueneme south to the Deep Hole, with fish to 65 pounds reported in the past week and a lot of 40-pound-class fish. Best of all, the limit goes from one back to three fish June 16. The seabass are showing on everything from half-day to full-day trips along the coast. Note the scores in the counts listed below.
