High Desert Lakes, April 28 report

HESPERIA LAKE: Catfish plant last Thursday and this Thursday. Catfish action has been fair to good, and a few trout continue to show (last plant two weeks ago). Top catfish reported include a 13-pounder landed by Mike Vega, Boyle Heights, on meal worms off Catfish Point. Julio Hidalgo, Phelan, had cats at 9-8 and 5-8, both on shrimp. JESS RANCH LAKES: Fair to good trout action with best action still before 10 a.m. Most of the rainbows at two pounds. Best bite has been on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, rainbow and spring green), jigs, lures  and nightcrawlers. The catfish bite has also been pretty good for the few anglers fishing nightcrawlers and shrimp. Jesse Velasquez, Loma Linda, had cats at 15 and 11 1/2-pounds, both on mackerel.
