HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on shrimp, mackerel, or garlic nightcrawlers. Top fish reported included a 10-pound cat landed by Nathanial Zuniga, Corona, on a garlic nightcrawler off The Finger. First-ever fish were landed by Courtney Lopez, 13, Temple City, who caught a 5-pound catfish, and Noah Borunda, 9, Victorville, who had a 4-pound trout. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.
JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action has been slow to fair with thundershower and hot weather this past week. The best action has been on PowerBait, especially garlic, fluorescent orange, and salmon peach, or inflated nightcrawlers. Some fish on small jigs or trout spinner or spoons early in the morning. The bass bite has been fair to good early and late in the day on Senkos or plastic worms, with some topwater action. Bass to 5pounds have been reported.
