High Desert Lakes, March 10 report

HESPERIA LAKE: The trout action remains good with a lot of nice quality fish landed over the past week, including a pair topping 13 pounds. The biggest was a 13-6 rainbow landed by Henry Fabela, Pomona on Power Worms in Finger Cove, while a 13-5 was landed by Curtis Reeves, Hesperia, on a small, green trout jig, also in Finger Cove. Bob Ski, San Diego, had a 10-pound rainbow, while Tommy Phelps, Hesperia, landed a 9-pounder. Mt. Lassen trout plants last Thursday and again this Thursday. Most trout are 2-pound class fish with bigger fish in each plant. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite has been up and down over the past week with the variable weather, but overall still a pretty good bite. The best action is before 10 a.m., and the bite is best on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, garlic, and rainbow), jigs, small trout lures, and inflated nightcrawlers. Most are two pounders.
