High Desert Lakes, March 17 report

HESPERIA LAKE: Good trout action and a steady succession of big rainbows continues to pour in. tops this week was a 15-pounder landed by Oscar Puentes, Hesperia, on a jig. Henry Fabela, Pomona, had a 13-6, while Joshua Polston, Fontana, had a 12-8. Steve Scalletta, Rancho Cucamonga, landed a 12-pounder, and Bob Ski, San Diego, had a 10-pounder. Overall the trout action remains good with Mt. Lassen trout plants last Thursday and again this Thursday. Most trout are two-pound class fish with bigger fish in each plant. Kid’s Fishing Clinic set for April 9. Cost is $7.50 for kids 3 to 12 years old taught how to fish. Gear will be provided and the limit is two trout per entry. JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite has been up and down over the past week with the variable weather, but overall just fair action for anglers on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, garlic, and rainbow), jigs, small trout lures, and inflated nightcrawlers.
