High Desert Lakes, March 30 report

HESPERIA LAKE: Good trout action and a steady succession of quality rainbows continues to pour in. Best fish this week were a pair of 11 pounders, but no names were provided. Curtis Reeves, Hesperia, landed a 7-11 rainbow, while Milo Figueroa, Victorville, caught a 7 pounder. Overall the trout action remains good with Mt. Lassen trout plants last Thursday and again this Thursday. Most trout are two-pound class fish with bigger fish in each plant. Catfish plants set to begin in mid-April. Kid’s Fishing Clinic set for April 9. Cost is $7.50 for kids 3 to 12 years old taught how to fish. Gear will be provided and the limit is two trout per entry. JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite has been pretty good before 10 a.m., but tough after that. The best action has been on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, garlic, and rainbow), jigs, small trout lures, and inflated nightcrawlers. Most are 2 pounders. A few bass are showing.
