High Desert Lakes, March 3 report

HESPERIA LAKE: The trout action remains good with a lot of nice quality fish landed over the past week. Top rainbow was an 7-8 rainbow landed by Bob Ski, San Diego, from Finger Cove. At least three other trout topping four pounds reported. Mt. Lassen trout plants last Thursday and again this Thursday. Most trout are 2-pound class fish with bigger fish in each plant. JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite has been fair to good with the warmer weather this week. The best action is before 10 a.m., and the bite is best on PowerBait (especially salmon peach, garlic, and rainbow), jigs, small trout lures, and inflated nightcrawlers. Most are two pounders, but Danny Valdez, Loma Linda, landed an 11-4 rainbow on a Kastmaster from the north shore of Lake 2. Donald Garcia, San Bernardino, landed a 7-5 on PowerBait from the west shore of Lake 3. Slow other species. For more information call 760-240-1107.
