Fish Report – Freshwater, May 13 ed

HESPERIA LAKE: Good catfish action with 1,000-pound plants last Thursday and this Thursday. The best action has been on shrimp, mackerel, or garlic nightcrawlers. Lanice Johnson, Apple Valley, landed a four-pound catfish on red worms. A few holdover trout have shown in the past week. The best was an 11-8 rainbow caught by Ryan Thomas, Fontana, on a nightcrawlers at the drain, while Elias Hattar, San Bernardino, had a 10-8 trout on a jig. JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action has been very good in both lakes over the past week on PowerBait (especially orange, garlic, and salmon peach), small trout jigs, and a wide array of small trout lures. Most of the rainbows are around 2 pounds with some to 3 pounds. Bass are post-spawn and fish to five pounds showing in a fair bite on plastics and reaction baits.
