Fish Report July 4 Edition

HIGH DESERT LAKES 

HESPERIA LAKE:
Fair to good catfish action after a plant last Thursday which included some quality fish. Also a plant this Thursday. Best action has been on mackerel, shrimp, and garlic nightcrawlers. Top catfish reported was a 7-8 landed by Morquel Lewis, San Bernardino, on shrimp off the east bank. Kenny Robinson, Victorville, had a six pounder and Milton Jackson, Los Angeles, landed a four-pound cat. Information: (800) 521-6332 or (760) 244-5951.     

JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite was slow this week with the higher temperatures. Anglers used PowerBait (especially salmon peach, orange and garlic), nightcrawlers, jigs and small trout lures to get a few fish. Bass are active with anglers reporting moderate action on the western and south eastern shores of lake 2. Catfish are biting on mackerel, nightcrawlers and shrimp from the western shore of lake 2.
