HESPERIA LAKE: The catfish action is getting good with weekly plants, including a 1,000-pound stock this week. Top fish reported was an eight-pound cat landed by Tenny Tunque, West Covina, on the marshmallow-meal worm combo. Sam Currie, Rialto, had a six-pound cat on the same bait, while Landen McCarty, Hesperia, caught a four-pound catfish, his first fish ever, on garlic meal worms. A few trout continue to show even though it’s been three weeks since the last plant. Best was a 7.8-pounder caught by Jeff Davis, San Bernardino, on PowerBait, and Kash Cardenas, 3, Hesperia, landed his first trout ever, a half-pounder on a marshmallow.  JESS RANCH LAKES: The trout bite was good this past week with best action before 10 a.m. PowerBait in salmon peach, orange and garlic or nightcrawlers were the best baits, and the usual array of small trout lures also were good. The bass have been good with the fish in the shallows and showing on plastics and reaction baits. Catfish are also starting to turn on with the best bite on mackerel, shrimp, and nightcrawlers.
