SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: No state record rainbows caught in spite of hype. Trout slow to fair since last week’s Lightning Trout plant. Juan Taylor, Riverside, landed a 12-pound rainbow, while frank Bin, La Crescenta, had a 10-8. Catfish season begins this week with plant Thursday. IRVINE LAKE: The lake is now closed and will be for at least the immediate future. 

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: The final trout plant of the season went in last week with a 1,000-pound plant. There are no fishing fees this season, only the $5 parking fee on weekends (or $3 during the week). For more information, 949-923-2240 or go to ocparks.com/parks/lagunan/.
