SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The catfish bite has been fair to good, but few trout reported. The lake complex is closed every Thursday (the day of the weekly plants) to give the fish a chance to acclimate and spread around the lake. Information: (714) 632-7851.
IRVINE LAKE: Still fair trout action, but best bite is for boat anglers fishing deeper water. The bass are showing on plastics and reaction baits in very good numbers. Catfish and bluegill are also pretty decent for anglers targeting these species. Information: (714) 649-9111.
LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: Slow fishing. Warming water temperatures have pushed the trout to deeper water at the dam and the bubble holes. Best bite has been early and late in the day, especially for shore anglers, while float tubers are getting fish on the flats. The last trout plant of the season went in March 25. Information: (949) 362-9227.
ANAHEIM LAKE: Closed. The facility will remain closed until Santa Ana River Lakes closes for routine maintenance. Information: (714) 996-3508.
