SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The 78-pound blue catfish being called Bluezilla made its third showing since being planted, being caught and released by Steven Rochin, Placentia, on Whoop Ass cut mackerel from a float tube.  Florencio Casillas, Garden Grove, caught an released a 28-pound cat. The bite has been good with a lot of limits reported. Richard Padilla, Upland, had a 10 catfish stringer that went 22 pounds. The fish are showing on a wide variety of cut baits and the marshmallow-meal worm combo soaked with Eagle Claw Gravy in garlic. The lake is stocked with catfish every Friday. IRVINE LAKE: The catfish bite has been very good. The catfish bite has been best on mackerel and shrimp baits fished in about 10 feet of water. Santiago Flats and Boat Dock Cove have been the best spots with the late afternoon bite the best. The largemouth bass bite has continued good on surface baits (frogs and rats) or plastics. Also a few trout still being caught in deeper water mid-lake and at the dam. A few bluegill and carp are also being caught. Information: 714-649-9111.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: The bluegill bite is fair to good all around the lake on small fish. Bass are fair to good on plastics and reaction baits. Information: 949-362-9227.
