Orange County, March 30 report

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The hype may be a little overboard because nothing approaching the state record has been caught, but there are a good number of huge trout being caught here after plants of trophy fish the past two weeks. The best this past week was a 19-pounder landed by Jonathan Rio, Stanton, on chartreuse PowerBait at Levitz Corner. Craig Adkinson, Orange, landed a 17-pounder, and Bryson Molesky, Anaheim, had a 12-pounder. Information: 714-632-7851 or log on at fishinglakes.com.

IRVINE LAKE: The lake is now closed and will be for at least the immediate future.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: The final trout plant of the season was slated for this week with a 1,000-pound plant. There are no fishing fees this season, only the $5 parking fee on weekends (or $3 during the week). For more information, 949-923-2240 or go to ocparks.com/parks/lagunan/.
