Fish Report-Freshwater, Nov. 26

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: The trout bite has been fair to good, and a plant of rainbows to 20 pounds were slated to go in this week. Top trout was an 8-4 caught by Bryant Channita, Garden Grove, on a Mice Tail. Fernando Diaz, Garden Grove, had three rainbows totaling 19 pounds, topped by a 7-8. A few cats continue to show. Best was a 14-pounder caught by Kevin Martinez, Los Angeles. Doug Cherry, Placentia, had a 13-pound cat. Trout plants are weekly Information: 714-632-7851.

IRVINE LAKE: The trout bite has been slow to fair, but a plant was slated this week for the holiday weekend. Top rainbows reported this past week were a pair of fish at 5-1, both on PowerBait off the west shore. One was caught by Matth Northrup, Orange, and the second by Jose Valenzuela, Orange. Bass are fair with an 8-2 caught by Jeff Sato, Harbor City. Catfish slow to fair, but a 10-1 was landed by Chris Hagopian, Redondo Beach. All boating, including use of rental boats, has been suspended here as of Sept. 5. Information: 714-649-9111.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: Orange County Parks is now running the fishing program and trout plants are tentatively set to begin Thanksgiving week. There are no fishing fees this season, only the $5 parking fee on weekends (or $3 during the week). For more information, 949-923-2240.
