SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: Weekly plants of catfish on Friday. Trout season opener not set yet. Information: 714-632-7851.

IRVINE LAKE: The bass bite has been good, but catfish have slowed to just fair. Top cat this week was a 15-o caught by Abel Martinez, Los Angeles, while Gabriel Hernandez, Pomona, landed a 12-8. All boating, including use of rental boats, has been suspended here as of Sept. 5. Trout season will begin the first full weekend of November. Information: 714-649-9111.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE: The concessionaire’s lease expires Oct. 31, so there may not be a trout program this season. Through the end of October the lake is open to fishing, but may not be afterwards.
