CUCAMONGA-GUASTI: The kid’s trout derby this past weekend had 107 anglers. First place went to Jaelynn Molina, 7, El Monte, with a 2-11 rainbow. Second was won by Jazmine Lopez, 10, Rancho Cucamonga, with a 2-8 trout, while third went to Bryan Comacho, 10, El Monte, with a 2-6 rainbow. Jacob Martinez, 15, Highland, was fourth with a 2-2 rainbow, and fifth place went to Alex Serrano, 13, Fontana, with a two-pounder. County trout are planted each Thursday. DFW trout were also planted last week. Overall, the bite has been pretty good with a few limits reported each week and most anglers are getting a fish or two. Information: (909) 481-4205.
PRADO: County trout are planted each Thursday, and the most recent DFW plant went in three weeks ago. The largemouth bass bite is also starting to take off with quite a few fish showing along the shoreline in shallow water for the spawn.
