SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY
CUCAMONGA-GUASTI: The trout action has been fair to good this past week with few limits but a lot of one to three-fish stringers. The best trout of the week was a four-pounder landed by Mark Cadena, Monterey Park, on a white jig. Armando Ramirez, Rancho Cucamonga, have a limit of rainbow averaging a pound on rainbow PowerBait on the north side of the big lake. County plants are each week on Thursday, and DFW rainbows went in last week and are slated for next week. A Junior Fishing Workshop has been slated for Feb. 22. Information: (909) 481-4205.
PRADO: The trout bite has been very good this past week. Best baits have been chartreuse jigs or Power Mice or spring gree, corn yellow, or orange PowerBait. Top spot has been Basin No. 2 and near the spillway. The big fish this past week was a 9-12 rainbow landed by Derek Eckroth, Eastvale, on corn yellow PowerBait near Lot No. 8. Juan Raygosa, Ontario, caught a 14-pound carp and three rainbows totaling five pounds. Esther Pu, Eastvale, won the junior fishing derby this past weekend with a four-pound rainbow. The county trout plants are each week on Thursday. DFW trout went in this week and two weeks ago. The third derby in the San Bernardino County Park five-derby circuit will be held here Feb. 22. Entry fee for all events is $20 plus vehicle entry fee. There is over $1,000 in cash and prizes for top anglers. There will also be junior fishing workshops for kids from seven to 15 on April 12. YUCAIPA: Trout action has remained good with quite a few quality rainbows continuing to be caught. The biggest trout this past week was a 13-3 landed by John Boatman, Yucaipa, on a small jig from the middle lake. J.B. Gierlich, Riverside, had an 11-11 rainbow on a B-Line jig from the bottom lake. Matt Thomas, Riverside, had a 7-8 rainbow on a Pee Wee jig, also from the bottom lake. Mini jigs and yellow or rainbow PowerBait in garlic flavors with Power Dust or Hatchery Dust added are the top baits. County plants are each Thursday with trophy fish in each plant. DFW trout plants were last week and they are slated for next week. A junior fishing workshops for kids seven to 15 is set for March 8. Information: (909) 790-3127.
