Fish Report–Freshwater

SILVERWOOD: The striper bite is the best bet here with fair to good action on fish running from two to four pounds along with some bigger fish. The best action has been in Miller Canyon and off the docks with swimbaits, anchovies, and sardines. The best fish this week was a 13-pounder caught by Richard Pustilinskov, Rancho Cucamonga, on a swim bait in the channel. Ernie, Joe, and Lyn Carlson, all Azusa, hand nine stripers to three pounds fishing anchovies off the dock. Jesse Dominguez, Whittier, had five stripers to three pounds, also fishing anchovies off the dock. The trout bite has been fair to good after a DFW plant last week and three weeks ago. The bite has been best around the marina and into Miller and Cleghorn canyons. Catfish are fair with most showing for striper anglers or those targeting the cats marina and cove mouths on shrimp and chicken liver. Anglers should be aware of health warnings for the consumption of fish from this lake because of high PCB and mercury levels in the fish flesh and skin. Dock fishing is allowed for $3 for adults, $2 for kids and seniors. Private boats must be inspected for zebra and quagga mussels. Boats with wet lower units will be turned away. Boats inspected and tagged at Diamond Valley and Perris will be allowed at Silverwood. The park is open seven days a week.
