SILVERWOOD: The striper bite has been fair at the dam, inlet, and Twin Cove, while lots of smaller, two-pound class fish are showing off the dock. The best action has been on sardines and glow nightcrawlers. Mark James, Phelan, had a five-pound striper on a nightcrawler in Twin Cove. The catfish are showing in Miller Canyon and off the marina docks, mostly on sardines and nightcrawlers. Largemouth bass have been on top at the inlet and Twin Cove this week, but overall the bite is fair. Slow other species, and there have been no DFW plants since Oct. 24 and none are currently on the schedule. Anglers should be aware of health advisories for the consumption of fish from this lake because of high PCB and mercury levels in the fish flesh and skin. Here’s the direct link to a PDF brochure explaining consumption recommendations: http://www.oehha.ca.gov/fish/so_cal/pdf_zip/081013KioskadvySilverwood.pdf. Dock fishing is allowed for $3 for adults, $2 for kids and seniors. Private boats must be inspected for zebra and quagga mussels. Boats with wet lower units will be turned away. Boats inspected and tagged at Diamond Valley and Perris will be allowed at Silverwood. The park is open seven days a week.
