FISHING UPDATE: Fishing success remains just fair at most waters across the county. Trout have been the best bet with regular plants going in a most lakes. Top bets for trout are Poway, Wohlford, Dixon, Cuyamaca, and Jennings. The best action is always within the first few days after a plant. Light fishing pressure due to rain has concentrated more fish in the lakes, and most now have good holdover populations that are dispersed throughout the lake. The bass action has been slow to fair at most waters. Lower Otay, San Vicente, Murray, and El Capitan remain decent bets for bass, with most of the fish showing in deep water on shiners, plastics, and jigs. The panfish bites are mostly off, but a few bluegill and crappie continue to show from Otay, and Murray continues to have a few quality bluegill being caught.

FISH COUNTS: The San Diego City Lakes staff surveyed 19 anglers at El Capitan this past week and they landed 37 bass. AT Hodges, 136 anglers checked reported just 10 bass. At Miramar, 14 anglers checked had 35 bass to 3.8 pounds. At Lower Otay, 76 anglers landed 148 bass, 28 crappie, and nine bluegill.

NOTEABLE CATCHES: At Murray, Clayton Conner, Santa Monica, had a six-pound largemouth on a shiner. Poncho Guiverra, Hemet, landed three bluegill to 1.5 pounds.
