DFW trout plants went into Chollas Park Lake, Cuyamaca Lake, and Murray last week, and Chollas Park Lake, Cuyamaca Lake, Lindo Lake, and Morena Reservoir four weeks ago.

FISHING UPDATE: The trout bite has been fair to good at most of the lakes getting regular stocks now. The bite is best the two to three days after the plants, but all the lakes have had enough plants that there is a pretty good stockpile of fish that keeps the bite pretty fair. The usual array of floating dough baits, Mice Tails, and small trout jigs are the best bets. Dixon Lake was been particularly good, but Wohlford and Cuyamaca have also been good. Poway, Jennings, and Santee Lakes have been fair to good.

The bass action, especially at lakes getting the smaller DFW fish, has really perked for bigger largemouths. The trout-like swimbaits are getting some quality fish. Still, most of the action is on drop-shot plastics or live bait (where legal), especially shiners. Lower Otay, El Capitan, San Vicente, and Murray have all been fair.

The bluegill and redear action has slowed way down with almost no reports over the past week.

The catfish are getting very light pressure right now so there have been few reports.

FISH COUNTS: The San Diego City Lakes staff usually conducts counts each week at its reservoirs. Counts not available for this past week.

NOTABLE CATCHES: At Murray, Larry Stone, San Diego, landed a 10.3-pound largemouth fishing a swimbait in Padre Bay on Saturday, while David Hartman, San Diego, had bass and 6 and 4 pounds on shiners in Del Cerro Bay.
