FISHING UPDATE: Trout season roars along, and there is good fishing at many waters. Dixon Lake has been particularly good with over 16,000 pounds of trout planted so far this season, and Wohlford is nearly as good with plants each of the past three consecutive weeks. Lake Cuyamaca is fair to good. Jennings and Santee Lakes have been fair to good with plants this week and two weeks ago. Poway has also been pretty fair after a plants this week and two weeks ago. Top action at all the lakes has been on floating dough baits fished on light leaders with sliding sinker rigs. Power Mice and small trout jigs or trout plastic worms are also getting fish.
The bass action is finally starting to ebb as the nights and water temperatures cool. Lower Otay has been the bass hotspot in the region with a lot of fish on drop-shot plastics and still some reaction bait fish. El Capitan, San Vicente, and Murray have also been pretty fair. Vicente has a lot of silversides along the bank but the fish are mostly showing on drop-shot plastics. Lots of small fish at all the lakes right now.
The bluegill and redear action has slowed way down, with just a few fish caught at Otay, Murray, Murray (still a few quality ëgills showing) and San Vicente.
The catfish are getting very light pressure right now so there have been few reports.
